Nurturing the Growth of Every Student

As a candidate for the Polk County School Board, Travis Keyes, commits to fostering a transformative education system that nurtures the growth of every student, regardless of ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or disability. I envision a district where community involvement is paramount, leading to safer, and successful learning environments.

With my comprehensive background in finance education and school governance, I will advocate for a fair distribution of resources across schools, placing a significant emphasis on school safety, talent acquisition and retention, and the effective use of technology.

Equal Opportunities and Resources

Recognizing the achievement gap in our district, I commit to leveling the field through increased teacher training and retention, ensuring that all students receive equal opportunities and resources. I also aim to enhance mental health resources and support systems, addressing the urgent need for more guidance counselors at the K-8 levels.

My priority lies in the fair allocation of the district’s budget, with a focus on safety, recruitment, retention, and efficient use of technological resources. I believe in fostering an open line of communication and collaboration between all stakeholders – from the school board to district administrators, teachers, staff, students, and the community.

In order to retain high-quality educators and staff, I propose exploring measures for increased reciprocity of teacher certifications across state lines and introducing incentives for high performers.

Prioritizing Health and Well-Being of Students and School Staff

To address public health crises, I commit to advocating for measures that protect the health and well-being of our students and staff while integrating lessons learned into future policies. The implementation of effective digital resources in the classroom will continue to be a top priority, ensuring our teachers have the necessary training to facilitate this.

Lastly, I will fervently support and promote extracurricular activities, clubs, and sports programs within the district, realizing the integral part they play in a well-rounded education. By attending events, sharing successes on social media, and fostering a sense of community pride, we can all contribute to the growth and success of Polk County Public Schools.
